Friday...WGI Percussion World Championship Prelims...the day we had been preparing for all season. And even though the members knew we could expect a variety of weather, nothing could really prepare them for the 40 degree (30 degree with the wind chill factor) temperatures we experienced in the lot during warm-up!
Nevertheless, the adrenaline was pumping as they pushed through the blustery conditions. Backstage provided shelter, warmth, (and oranges). The members refocused and pushed on for their prelims performance. Despite the significance of what they were about to do, there was an observable calm as the group took the floor...like they had done this many times before.
There are no words that could be written about the performance. For the members, staff, volunteers, and fans that were there...they know.
