Planes, Trains, Automobiles...and Determination:

After about 36 hours of travel, the BC Drumline finally made it safe and sound to Dayton, OH. The members took a couple hours to get settled in the hotel, grab a bite, and travel to the rehearsal site to take advantage of a few hours of gym time.

The staff of Edison College in Piqua, OH welcomed the group and literally opened their doors to the BCDL tonight. Everyone at the college has been so supportive, and it really feels like a home away from home.

Well, this wasn't exactly what we had in plan for day one, but despite a poorly timed flight delay and the cooresponding system-wide shutdown of American Airlines' reservation system, the BCDL is fortunate to have a place to rest their heads for a few hours.

The drumline was scheduled to arrive in Dayton Tuesday evening, but at this point it looks like they will arrive in Cincinnati by 10am on Wednesday. They will lose some valuable rehearsal time at Edison College, but all things considered the members and staff are optimistic.

Today has been a lesson in patience. Plans don't always turn out the way you intended them to, but sometimes the unexpected idea turns out to be just as effective. 36 members sleeping on cots in DFW, sharing an unforgettable experience...not a bad first day.

Soloists from the BC Drumline represented Bakersfield this morning at SJVCGPR Championships. Congratulations to Randy Villegas (snare), Devon Kinnard (snare), and Mike Audie (marimba).

The BC Drumline is on the road to CSU San Bernardino to represent the college at WGI Western Percussion Championships. They'll be up against some of the best drumlines in the world as they make their SoCal debut. You can follow the action at wgi.org

Come to BC this Thursday night for a FREE evening of music in motion! The BC Brass Ensemble and BC Drumline will be presenting preview performances of their spring semester productions.

This event will take place in the BC Gym at 7pm. Parking is free in the SE parking lot (east of the stadium). Enter through the "Huddle" and head downstairs.

The BC Brass Ensemble will be presenting an eclectic mix of brass arrangements, from orchestral fanfares to Latin jazz. The BC Drumlinewill perform their 2013 competitive program, The Blueprint.

Tax deductible donations will be accepted to help support the equipment needs of the brass ensemble and to offset travel expenses for the drumline's upcoming trip to Dayton, OH for WGI Percussion World Championships.
